JAMES E. KASDON

James Kasdon represents and acts as general counsel for clients in a variety of real estate-related litigation and transactional matters in all five Boroughs of New York City and its surrounding Counties.

He founded New York City-based Kasdon Law in May of 1996 and has been counseling and representing clients in real estate-related law since 1992.

James provides experienced counsel to cooperative boards and condominium boards of managers as well as general and litigation counsel to residential and mixed-use condominiums and cooperatives. His real estate transactional practice encompasses the representation of purchasers and sellers as well as commercial landlords and tenants. In addition, James has held Court appointments as Receiver, counsel to Receivers, and "off-list" Property Guardianship. He is also frequently appointed as shadow counsel and has been quoted in major publications including The New York Times.

In 1991, James received a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, and in 1988, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Philosophy from Brandeis University. Admitted to the bar of New York, he frequently lectures at the Brooklyn Bar Association and Bay Ridge Lawyers’ Association.

SONDRA KASDON

Sondra Kasdon specializes in tax-advantaged structuring of real estate investments, organization formation, and nonprofit operations.

An “Of Counsel” Tax Attorney for Kasdon Law, Sondra guides corporations, partnerships, S corporations, limited liability companies (LLCs), and tax-exempt organizations on domestic and cross-border transactions and operations. She also advises various charitable and tax-exempt organizations on tax matters, general board governance, and best practices and emerging tax issues. Sondra is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

In 1998, Sondra received an LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law and In 1996 she received a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. She also holds a B.S. in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University.

Her volunteer work includes serving as Pro Bono Special Education Attorney for the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Millburn-Short Hills Special Education Committee and New Eyes for the Needy.
